Muslims Fast in Ramadan Because....
1. First and foremost, we must obey God, and to be a Muslim, fasting is one of the PILLARS of Islam. When we fast, we are saying:
"I am a Muslim, and I am obeying my Creator."
2. Fasting, which means not eating or drinking all day, teaches us
PATIENCE and CONTROL. We all need to be patient in life because things are not always going to be good. If you can keep from eating and drinking all day, then you can put up with alot of things life will throw your way!
3. There are MILLIONS of people in the world who don't have enough food or water. When we fast, we are feeling what they feel when they are hungry and thirsty. We are sharing their feelings, so we can be more SENSITIVE to their needs, and try to GIVE to the poor and needy people.
4. Fasting also makes us THANKFUL for what we have. If you usually have 3 meals everyday, then you have alot to be thankful to God for. So, instead of always asking for MORE, we should always thank God and our parents for the things they have given us, that many people do NOT have.
