There are about 1 and half MILLION Christians in Sudan. Christmas in Sudan is a time of joy, prayer, and getting together with friends and family.

In South Sudan, Christmas starts on December 23rd, and lasts until January 15th. For Christmas, people always wear their best clothes. If they can afford it, they get new clothes and bedsheets, and goats and bulls are slaughtered.

Christmas in Sudan also means going to mass at church. There are hundreds of churches all around Sudan. In the South, churches get ready for the Christmas Eve celebrations. People walk to their churches looking their best, and sometimes this walk is 15-20 miles!

Celebrations at the church are all night- they start at 12 Midnight on Christmas Eve. Everybody sings Christmas songs and hymns together. Then in the morning of Christmas day, people leave the church singing, dancing, and playing drums.

It's a joyful time for everyone, and one of the times when food is plentiful
- especially meat.

Then everyone visits their friends and relatives, sharing food, drinks, clothes and stories.
Everybody has fun!
