Our People
Sudan is called a
"melting pot", because many different people came together and mixed in this land.
There are many
TRIBES in Sudan, and we are blessed to have people from many origins- Arab, African, and even Indian!

In our magazine, we will talk about different tribes in every edition, so we can all appreciate the many cultures we have in Sudan.

Sudanese speak MANY different
languages- what other language can YOU or your family speak?

This is Deng. He is a boy from the city of Juba in Southern Sudan, from the
Dinka tribe. He lives with his mother, father and sister, and speaks the Dinka language.

Deng's family lives in a beautiful green area, with
papaya and mango trees everywhere. He likes to play with his friends in the green fields of grass.

Deng likes to go fishing after school at the river with his friends. They also like to pick delicious fruits, and every Sunday, he goes to church with his family. Deng likes to play the drums in the church choir. He LOVES to listen to his favorite singer,
"Vivian" singing "Wadakona".

Many of Deng's family members and friends have died because of the war in south Sudan, and that makes him very sad sometimes. He and his family always pray for peace.
