Samia from Kordofan
This is Samia. She is from Al Obayyid, a big city in
the western state of Kordofan.
She goes to school every morning, after helping her mother pick the gum
Arabic from the acacia
trees near their home.

Samia loves to eat gongolayz,
and she sits under the gigantic tabaldi
tree with her friends after school. That tree is where gongolayz comes
from. In the afternoon, her mother sits her down and braids her hair with
smooth white Wadi3 shells that she really
likes, to get her ready for her friend, Ashas party.
She and her friends have a great time together at the
party, singing, drumming on the Dalooka,
and dancing the Mardoom dance all night.
They hate to part, but its a school night, so, back home she goes!
